Cambodia Volunteering: 7. Last House Build #5 Storm Family in Trach Village Rice Paddies

Soo-a-s'day!

Last House Build! in Trach Village in the Siem Reap Province....in the rice paddie fields is where I find my fifth and final house build....*sniff sniff*

This family I call the 'Storm' Family, as a few days previous to us starting the house build - the family of Mother, Father and four children(one is missing) were living in a ram shackled bamboo hut that just blew over during the night destroying their home. They were forced to gather their belongings and take shelter underneath a tarpaulin and planks of wood which was good timing as we came in to start building them a brand new house with Volunteer Building Cambodia a few mornings later

In the rice paddies meeting the family and looking at the build site

One of the children sitting on the ruins of his former home

Miss Piggy next door!!

Chiseling the nine posts for the frame of the roof

Before the house is built, the family have a 'mini blessing' where they bless the foundations where the house will be built with a priest and offerings of food and and incense.

Lots of activity in the paddies!

After Day One!

Fixing all the posts together, a load of wood and nails - all it is....

And raising the outer post, the centre posts and the other outer posts

Now its looking more like a house!

A bit of building action....

The family waits patiently for their house to be built...bless!

Adding a VBC personal touch!

Day Four and the house is done!

The Last Blessing

Walking three times around the outside of the house armed with gifts and donations

The priest and family ascend the stairs to their new home!

The monks bless the house and the family with good luck and prosperity

Johnny and Kylie hand over the keys and the house is all theirs! Enjoy your new home!

From this.....

To this is FOUR DAYS!!!!

THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART TO EVERYONE WHO GAVE ME A KIND DONATION TO COME OUT TO CAMBODIA AND TO HELP FUND FIVE HOUSE BUILDS FOR FIVE FAMILIES LIVING IN DIRE LIVING CONDITIONS WHO ARE NOW FAR BETTER OFF FROM WHEN I FOUND THEM. THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN.
